Paris/ Ahmedabad, June 12: Several global leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, Canadian PM Mark Carney, Singapore PM Lawrence Wong, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, expressed sorrow over the tragic Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad airport.
Leaders React with Condolences
French President Emmanuel Macron conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the victims’ families and to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “We have learned with deep emotion of the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, India. In this time of sorrow, I extend our heartfelt thoughts to the victims' loved ones and to Prime Minister @NarendraModi,” Macron posted on X.
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent official condolences to both Prime Minister Modi and President Droupadi Murmu. “Please accept the deepest condolences over the tragic consequences of a passenger plane crash in Ahmedabad. Kindly convey sincere sympathy to the victims' families and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured,” he stated.
Australian PM Anthony Albanese described the incident as "absolutely devastating." In a message posted on X, he wrote, “In this time of tragedy, Australia's thoughts are with everyone affected. Our government is receiving regular updates and will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
Canadian PM Mark Carney also expressed his grief, noting that one Canadian citizen was aboard the ill-fated flight. “Devastated to learn of the crash of a London-bound Air India plane in Ahmedabad. My thoughts are with the loved ones of everyone on board,” he wrote, adding that Canada’s transportation officials are in contact with Indian counterparts.
Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said he was "deeply saddened" by the loss of lives in the crash. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones, and to the people of India in this time of sorrow,” he stated on X.
Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan also conveyed his sympathies. “Most sincere condolences and sympathies to the friendly people and leadership of India. Wishing strength to the victims’ families,” he posted.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu extended prayers to the families of the victims. “To my friend @PMOIndia @narendramodi and the people of India, I was saddened to learn of the tragic Air India crash that has taken the lives of 242 men, women and children. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the fallen,” he posted on X. (With Agency Input)
