Bhubaneswar/Kolkata, Oct 12: Durgapur police in West Bengal on Sunday arrested three accused for their alleged involvement in the gang-rape of an Odia medical student.
The identities of the arrestees have not been disclosed by the police.
As per reports, police used the accused’s mobile phone locations to track and arrest them. Two suspects are still on the run, and a manhunt is ongoing. Efforts are being made to ensure they are caught and brought to justice soon.
Meanwhile, reports say the victim’s health is improving, but she remains under treatment.
It is worth noting that the 23-year-old woman had gone out for a routine dinner around 8:30 pm on Friday, stepping outside the campus of a private medical college in Durgapur when she and her male friend were attacked by a group of three men who then gang-raped her.
The second-year student is a native of Jaleswar in Odisha’s Balasore and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
