Bhubaneswar, June 26: The Odisha Government has decided to provide free school bags to students from Sishu Vatika to Class III studying in government schools across the state. The School and Mass Education Department has issued a directive to all District Education Officers (DEOs) to ensure the timely distribution of the bags.
As per the official communication, the school bags will be supplied jointly by the School and Mass Education Department and the ST & SC Development Department through the Odisha State Industries Corporation (OSIC). The bags will be transported to designated block-level distribution points before being distributed to schools.
The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has instructed DEOs to ensure that every eligible student receives the school bag without any delay.
The department has also specified separate bag sizes for different grades. Students of Sishu Vatika and Class I will receive one type of school bag, while students of Classes II and III will be provided with another size and design suitable for their requirements.
