Pattamundai, Aug 20: Former MLA Anshuman Mohanty was bitten by a snake on Thursday while visiting the flood-affected Bachhara Mandapada area under the Rajanagar Assembly constituency in Kendrapara district.

Mohanty was taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Rajnagar for medical treatment.

According to sources, Mohanty was inspecting the flood situation and speaking with affected residents when the incident occurred. He had visited the locality to assess the difficulties faced by flood-affected people and provide assistance when he was bitten by the snake.

Doctors said his condition was stable after treatment and kept him under observation as a precaution.

Several villages in the Rajanagar Assembly constituency have been cut off from the rest of the area following flooding in the Brahmani river, leaving many residents affected.

Bachhara Mandapada is among the worst-hit areas.
