Bhadrak, August 21: In view of incessant rainfall, the prevailing flood situation and ongoing restoration efforts, the Bhadrak district administration has ordered the closure of 205 schools across four blocks—Bhadrak, Tihidi, Dhamnagar and Chandbali.
The administration has also announced the closure of 265 Anganwadi centres in Bhadrak, Tihidi, Chandbali and Dhamnagar blocks as a precautionary measure.
The Baitarani River is flowing at 17.52 metres at Akhuapada Anicut, against the danger level of 18.33 metres. Meanwhile, the Salandi River at Rajghat is also flowing below its danger mark of 17 feet.
The floods have affected Bhandaripokhari, Dhamnagar, Tihidi, Chandbali and Bhadrak blocks. According to the district administration, 212 villages under 46 gram panchayats have been affected by the floods.
Around 2.79 lakh people have been affected, while more than 1.05 lakh people have been evacuated to safer locations. To provide relief to the affected population, 122 free kitchens are currently operational across the district.
