Dhenkanal, July 23: Five members of a wedding procession lost their lives after the four wheeler vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a pond at Chhatia village under Dhenkanal Sadar police limits late on Thursday night.

According to preliminary information, the vehicle was carrying seven young men who were part of a wedding procession travelling from Bangurisinga in Motanga to Indipur. The XUV reportedly veered off the road and fell into the pond, where it became submerged.

Local villagers rushed to the scene and rescued two occupants from the vehicle. However, five others drowned before they could be saved.
