Jharsuguda, Jul 20: A fire broke out at a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM in the Belpahar area of Odisha's Jharsuguda district early on Monday morning, triggering panic among local residents.

The incident occurred at the ATM located near the railway crossing, where passersby noticed thick smoke billowing out of the kiosk. They immediately alerted the Fire Services department.

Preliminary reports suggest that a short circuit may have caused the fire. However, officials said the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed investigation.

Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving the alert and quickly brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or casualties. Authorities are yet to assess the extent of damage caused to the ATM and its equipment.
