Bhubaneswar, April 22: The Cyber Police have busted a fraud racket involved in duping people by posing as RTO officials and issuing fake e-challans. In the operation, four accused have been arrested in connection with a fraud amounting to nearly ₹7 lakh.

According to police sources, the accused used to send fraudulent links to unsuspecting individuals, claiming that a traffic fine had been imposed. Once the victim clicked on the link, their bank account details were compromised, leading to unauthorized withdrawal of money.

The gang had targeted several people using this modus operandi. Following their arrest, more details about their methods and the extent of the fraud are emerging during the investigation.

Police said that two of the accused are from Jharkhand, while the other two hail from Sangareddy in Hyderabad.
