Paradip, July 22: A shocking incident from Paradip has sparked public outrage after a video showing an elderly man transporting his ailing wife on a trolley due to the unavailability of an ambulance went viral on social media.
The incident occurred in the Sandhakuda slum area of Paradip, where an elderly man was seen pushing his wife on a hand-drawn trolley towards a medical facility. The couple was spotted near the Atharbanki bridge by a passing motorcyclist who inquired about the absence of an ambulance. The man reportedly responded that no ambulance was available, leaving him with no option but to transport her manually.
The footage, now widely shared online, has raised serious concerns over the state of healthcare services in the port city. The visual of a patient being taken to the hospital in a trolley has become a grim symbol of the challenges faced by residents in accessing timely medical care.
Responding to the public outcry, officials from the Atharbanki Cluster Health Center stated that, as per preliminary findings, no ambulance call was made during the incident. The revelation has only intensified scrutiny of the region’s emergency healthcare response system.
