Mumbai, Aug 24: Tension prevailed during the Mazgaon Cha Morya Ganpati idol arrival procession in Mumbai late on August 23 after eggs were allegedly thrown from a nearby building, prompting devotees to halt the procession and protest the incident.

Members of the Akhil Public Festival Committee condemned the alleged act and demanded strict action against those responsible. Committee president Hitesh Jadhav said the incident took place after the main idol arrival and called for those involved to be identified and arrested.

Police registered an FIR against unidentified persons and began examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects. Senior police officials were also deployed at the spot to control the situation and reassure devotees that appropriate action would be taken.

The incident occurred amid the ongoing Ganesh festival season and has renewed concerns over security arrangements during religious processions and public celebrations. Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar also extended support to the organisers and backed action against those responsible.
