
Bhubaneswar, October 12: Even though three persons have been arrested in connection the gang-rape of a second-year MBBS student from Odisha near a private medical college in West Bengal's Durgapur, the survivor’s father on Sunday requested Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to shift her daughter, who is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Durgapur, for security reasons.
“She is unable to walk and is on bed-rest now. The Odisha Chief Minister, DG and Balasore Collector and SP are all helping us a lot and regularly enquiring about her health. I have requested the Chief Minister to let us take my daughter away from here to Odisha, to a safer place because here, her safety is at risk. We have requested her to let us take her away," said the survivor’s father in Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal.
The 23-year-old student, who is from Jaleswar in Odisha and studies at the IQ City Medical College in Durgapur's Shivapur area, had gone out with a male friend on Friday night when some men approached them near the college gate, took the woman to a secluded area near college premises, and raped her. They then fled away.
The arrested accused - all locals - have been identified as Apu Bauri (21), Firdos Sekh (23), Sekh Reajuddin (31), and Sheikh Sofiqul.

They then fled away.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday assured that the State Government will provide all assistance to the victim’s family and instructed senior officials to stay in contact with the West Bengal government and take necessary steps.
