
Bhubaneswar, Sept 5: To ensure a peaceful and safe celebration during the upcoming festival season, the Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania announced on Friday that CCTV cameras and drones will be used to monitor and curb the forcible collection of donations.
Khurania issued strong directives to Superintendents of Police (SPs) to remain extra vigilant during the festivities, which are often marked by incidents of forced donations.
He stated, “With the festival season underway, all SPs have been instructed to be on heightened alert to prevent any kind of forced donation collection. We will not tolerate such practices, and strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty. CCTV cameras and drones will be deployed at selected locations to curb this menace and ensure smooth and peaceful celebrations for everyone.”
The DGP also emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging citizens to stay alert and report any suspicious activity or instances of forced donations, harassment, or other disruptions. He reassured the public that their concerns would be addressed promptly, helping ensure that the celebrations remain safe and enjoyable for all.
