Subarnapur, Oct 17:The District Collector & DM, Subarnapur in Odisha on Thursday suspended a government official on spot finding him drunken during office hours.
The suspended official has been identified as Kalu Mirdha, a senior clerk in the Watershed Project office, Subarnapur.
Apart from suspension, District Collector Nruparaj Sahu also directed the project officer to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the offender.
According to reports, as a part of official inspection, Subarnapur District Collector Nruparaj Sahu made a surprise visit to the Watershed Project office in order to review the progress of watershed activities.Meanwhile, the DM spotted somebody on the office table with resting his legs in a chair. Finding him unconscious, he tried to awake him shaking his body. But, to his surprise, the slept one was nobody but a senior clerk of the same office who had slept on the office table in an inebriated state.
Following this, the enraged DM ordered suspension of Mirdha on the spot and asked his immediate authority to initiate disciplinary action against the gross misconduct of the official.
