Dhenkanal, April 12: In a tragic turn of events, Danda Nacha in a Dhenkanal village became fatal for the devotees on Sunday as three of them electrocuted to death.

The incident took place in the Patla village under the Balimi Police limits at night.

The deceased have been identified as Sudhakar Sahu, Pintu Sahu & Millan Mahalik.

Apart from the deceased ones, two casualties are reported who were rushed to the nearest hospital for resuscitation.

According to reports, Danda Nacha was scheduled in the Patla village tonight for which the Danda Troupe was coming on a procession across the village. Meanwhile, the Trishul came in contact with the 11 KV conductor while the Danduas were passing through the village street. As a result, scores of persons were electrocuted of which three succumbed to burn injuries on the spot and several sustained grievous injuries.

Balimi Police and Fire fighters rushed to the spot upon getting information regarding the incident.

A pall of gloom descended in the area over the mournful incident, took place before a traditional festivity.
