Cyclone Alert: Ganjam administration closes all Beaches, including Gopalpur and Sonapur, till October 30

Bhubaneswar, October 26: In view of a possible cyclonic storm developing over the Bay of Bengal and its potential impact on the south Odisha coast, the Ganjam district administration has ordered the temporary closure of all beaches from noon on October 26 to 10 am on October 30, 2026.

According to an order issued by the Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, Ganjam, on Sunday, the restriction applies to major tourist destinations, including Gopalpur Sea Beach and Sonapur Sea Beach, along with all other beaches across the district.

The precautionary measure aims to ensure public safety amid the possibility of adverse weather conditions associated with the developing weather system. The administration has prohibited public entry to all beaches during the specified period.

Tourists, visitors and residents have been urged to strictly comply with the closure order and avoid visiting coastal areas until the restriction is lifted. The administration has also appealed to the public to cooperate with the authorities and prioritise safety.

The closure will remain in effect until 10 am on October 30, 2026, unless further directions are issued by the district administration.
