Bhubaneswar, Oct 09: Over the past nine months, the dedicated cyber police station in Bhubaneswar has received at least 3,660 complaints regarding cyber fraud, totaling Rs 68.79 crore, a senior police official said on Wednesday.

Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra shared that from January to September, 247 FIRs were registered related to these cases.

Victims from Bhubaneswar and other regions of the state have reported their experiences. The police have managed to freeze around Rs 11.86 crore in fraudulent assets and have returned Rs 1.80 crore to the victims thus far, he said.

To date, 24 individuals involved in these cyber scams have been arrested.

Mishra noted that special police teams have been dispatched to various states—including West Bengal, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Assam, and Chhattisgarh—for further investigation and recovery of lost funds.

In preparation for Durga Puja, cyber volunteers will be stationed at key puja pandals to distribute pamphlets and raise awareness among the public.
