CSR must evolve into a new language of service to humanity, opine guests

Puri, June 28: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) should not be confined to compliance with laws and regulations. Instead, it should evolve into a new language of service - one that touches humanity through meaningful, sustainable initiatives and creates a lasting positive impact on society, opined guests.

Participating in the CSR Conclave-2026 organised by the Pramyea and News7 at Puri on Saturday as the chief guest, Puri MP Sambit Patra said the CSR is not merely a legal obligation; it is also a powerful means of expressing the industry's ethical and social commitment to society.

“The goal of inclusive and sustainable development can be achieved only through the coordinated efforts of the Government, industry, and social organisations. It is the collective responsibility of all of us to ensure that the benefits of development reach the underprivileged sections of society,” said Patra.

He shared his views on the holistic development of society through CSR, covering various areas such as education, healthcare, skill development, women's empowerment, environmental protection, and rural development.

He also extended congratulations to the organisers for this conclave and called upon all stakeholders to continue promoting such dialogue and cooperation in the interest of society.

A session on the theme “CSR- A Responsibility Without Heart: Fact Or Myth” was organized. JSPL Odisha Corporate COmunication chief Prasanta Kumar Hota, Nalco Executive Director (HR) Asutosh Rath, Hindaclo Industries (CSR) chief Lopamudra Priyadarshini and noted waterman Ranjan Kishore Panda graced the session.
