Bhubaneswar, May 17: The Odisha government on Saturday flagged alarm for the people to stay alert as Covid 19 spikes in Southeast Asian countries, including Hong Kong, Thai and Singapore.
The Health Department informed that the state is well aware of the situation. However, no cases of Covid 19 has yet been detected even no case alike, has been diagnosed anywhere in the state.Depite, the department has intensified surveillance and testing measures in advance.
The state health administration is closely monitoring the situation and has initiated discussions with the World Health Organization (WHO) to assess the risks and prepare accordingly.
Dr. Nilakantha Mishra, Director Public Health said, the state government is in touch with the center, that mentions no positive case so far.
“Yet, we are following all standard guidelines and advisories issued by the Centre and global health agencies”, Dr. Mishra added
Similarly, the WHO official, Odisha Chapter has asked people to stay alert for recent outbreak. However, he urged people not to panic, since the WHO it self has not yet declared the present outbreak a, threat or new wave of pandemic, as no new strain of it has evolved in the cases detected in the South Asian Lands.
