New Delhi, May 1: The Congress party has expressed strong approval of the Supreme Court's ruling granting anticipatory bail to its leader, Pawan Khera, in a defamation case. The party highlighted that the law stands above all, irrespective of an individual’s power or influence.
The Supreme Court’s decision came in connection with allegations made by Khera against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife. The court observed that the issue appeared to be rooted in political rivalry and granted pre-arrest bail to Khera.
Speaking at a press conference, senior Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi remarked that the verdict reinforces the principle that, in matters concerning personal liberty, the courts serve as the ultimate pillar of hope and justice.
