Bhubaneswar, August 12: A tragic incident was reported in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Tuesday morning when a first-year Plus-III student of Bhadrak Autonomous College was found hanging in a private hostel near the campus.
It is said that she had returned to her hostel from home on Monday and attended her classes the same day. Later that night, she allegedly took her own life in the hostel bathroom using a scarf. Her body was discovered by fellow inmates after they forced open the locked bathroom door in the morning.
On being informed, Bhadrak Town Police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem.
“The investigation is being carried out as per legal procedures. A team of doctors has already completed the post-mortem. We have seized her mobile phone and are also reviewing CCTV footage for clues. Further details will be available once the report is received,” said Bhadrak SP Manoj Kumar Rout.
