Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: Odisha is set to experience a cold wave over the next two days, with both coastal and interior regions feeling intense chill. According to the Water Resources Department, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Jharasanguda, and Khordha are expected to witness lower-than-normal temperatures, while Sundargarh, Puri, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Koraput may see dense fog in the mornings.

On Wednesday night, temperatures are likely to drop to 6°C in Jharasanguda, Phulbani, and Rourkela, while Angul, Kendujhar, and Sundargarh may record 7°C. Other districts such as Dhenkanal, Baripada, Balangir, and Bhawanipatna are expected to experience around 9°C. By Thursday and Friday, most interior parts of Odisha are likely to see night temperatures below 10°C.

Early readings recorded the coldest spots as: Udiyagiri 4.6°C, Phulbani & Rourkela 7.1°C, Jharasanguda 7.2°C, Daringbadi 8°C, Similiguda 8.1°C, Angul 8.8°C, Kendujhar 9.4°C, Sundargarh 9.6°C, and Balangir 10.5°C. Dense fog was reported in Rourkela, reducing visibility to less than 50 meters, while Bhawanipatna experienced moderate fog.

Residents are advised to take precautions against the cold, especially in the interior and fog-prone areas.
