CM Majhi reviews construction progress of new ‘Odisha Bhavan’ in New Delhi

Bhubaneswar, Aug 20: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday reviewed the progress of the construction work of the new Odisha Bhavan in New Delhi at the Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. 

The new building is being reconstructed in the Chanakyapuri area of the national capital.

During the review meeting, CM Majhi Minister emphasized that the new Odisha Bhavan should reflect the rich craftsmanship of Odisha, such as stone carving, Sambalpuri Ikat weaving, and the state's cultural heritage. He provided valuable suggestions to the architects to ensure the building would encapsulate the essence of Odisha’s traditions.

He also instructed the officials to begin the construction process at the earliest.

As per reports, the new Odisha Bhavan will be a G+6 structure built on a plot of 4,761 square meters. The building will house 45 suites of different sizes, catering to the diverse needs of the people. Additionally, a conference hall will also be incorporated into the building’s design.

In the meeting, CM Majhi also advised the officials to ensure more room arrangements at the Mumbai Odisha Bhavan. Since a significant number of cancer patients from Odisha travel to Mumbai for treatment, additional facilities are being planned. 

The Chief Minister also recommended the construction of Odisha Bhavans in Ayodhya, Hyderabad, and Surat, given the large number of Odia devotees and residents in these cities.

The meeting also covered the renovation and modernization of the Kolkata Utkal Bhavan.

Notably, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Satyabrata Sahu, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Saswata Mishra, Principal Secretary of the Finance Department Sanjeev Mishra, and Principal Secretary of the Works Department Sanjay Kumar Singh were present at the meeting.
