Citizens to face rising summer temperatures as the latest Odisha weather update warns of extreme heat

Scorching temperatures hit districts expected thunderstorms may bring cooling relief

Sweltering conditions are currently dominating the state, pushing mercury levels past the 40-degree mark in several regions. Citizens navigating the intense daytime heat must prepare for shifting meteorological patterns over the next week. Recent data confirms that dry weather has largely prevailed, but significant changes are on the horizon.

Current temperatures and extreme heat alerts

Jharsuguda recorded the highest maximum temperature recently, blistering at 40.6°C. Other major cities are also experiencing warm conditions, with Bhubaneswar recording 34.2°C and Cuttack close behind at 34.0°C. Meanwhile, Phulbani offered a slight contrast, logging the lowest minimum temperature at a much cooler 15.5°C. For the next 48 hours, authorities have issued a strict heat wave warning for the state. Residents should take necessary precautions during these initial two days, as daytime temperatures will remain consistently high with no large changes expected immediately.

Impending storms and gradual cooling

Relief is fortunately on the way. Following the initial 24-hour period of intense heat, maximum temperatures are forecast to drop gradually by 3 to 5°C over the subsequent four days. This cooling trend will be accompanied by active weather systems. From day one through day five, officials have issued warnings for isolated thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and gusty winds across various districts.

Looking ahead to calmer conditions

Citizens can expect the turbulent weather to settle down as the week progresses. By the sixth and seventh days of the forecast period, no further severe weather warnings are in place, and temperatures are expected to stabilize without any large fluctuations. Staying informed through a reliable Odisha weather update will be essential as the state transitions from blistering heat waves to stormy, cooler days.
