Bhubaneswar, April 22: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday approved the procurement of pulses and oilseeds under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for the Rabi 2025–26. A meeting between Union Minister Chouhan and Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Minister KV Singh Deo was held virtually to this effect.
Notably, the Odisha Government had requested the Central Government for PPS for Rabi 2025-26. The approved crops include pulses such as Green Gram and Black Gram, as well as oilseed crops like Sunflower, Groundnut, and Mustard.
“Special focus will be given to strengthen sunflower production in western Odisha, particularly in Kalahandi district, and to ensure better price support to farmers. The State Government will undertake continuous monitoring of procurement operations under the Price Support Scheme during the year 2025–26 to ensure transparent and timely procurement of farmers’ produce. This will help in providing remunerative prices to farmers for their produce,” said the Deputy CM.
Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment Secretary Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, Director Horticulture Kalunge Gorakh Waman, Senior officers from the agriculture department were present during the meeting.
