BMC assault fallout: Mayor calls high-level review meeting

Bhubaneswar, July 2: Following the recent assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahu, a high-level meeting is scheduled for today to review the incident and discuss measures to restore normalcy in civic operations.
Mayor Sulochana Das has called for the emergency meeting, which will be attended by chairpersons of all BMC standing committees and corporators. The key agenda includes a thorough review of the circumstances leading to the attack and a detailed examination of the security lapses involved.
Since the incident, operations at BMC have come to a grinding halt, severely impacting essential civic services across the city. Residents have been left without access to basic amenities, prompting growing public concern.
A significant point of discussion will be the apparent failure of BMC's on-duty security personnel, who were absent from the scene during the assault. The administration is expected to take stock of internal lapses and initiate corrective measures to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future.
