Bhubaneswar, August 11: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday declared its decision to approach the Orissa High Court over alleged discrepancies in the vote count during the 2024 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, citing the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) failure to provide a satisfactory explanation.

Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, BJD spokesperson Amar Patnaik, MLA Dhruba Charan Sahoo, and former MP Sarmistha Sethi said the party had raised the matter with the ECI nearly eight months ago.

“We had submitted concrete, fact-based evidence of discrepancies noticed during the polls and sought clarification. However, the response from the ECI has been unsatisfactory. Given the lack of action, we have resolved to take the matter to the High Court,” Patnaik stated.
