Bhubaneswar to get 37 new roads under state master plan

Bhubaneswar, March 21: In a major push to ease traffic congestion and upgrade urban infrastructure, the state government has unveiled a comprehensive master plan to construct 37 new roads across the capital city. Budgetary provisions have already been made for the projects.

As part of the plan, an 11-km left parallel road network connecting Salia Sahi and Chunkoli will be developed, with work expected to be completed within the next 15 days.

A 38.4-km road along the Daya West Canal will connect Barang with Jatni, while a 6.49-km Barang-Trishulia road will link Dhakulei Peeth to National Highway 16.

Key road projects also include:

  • 6.18 km stretch from Acharya Vihar to Kalinga Hospital Square and Damana Square
  • 7.61 km road from Kaimatia Square to Barang-Pitapalli
  • 4.59 km stretch from Gohira to Gothapatna
  • 2.82 km road linking NH-16 to the city’s inner ring road via AIIMS and Damodarpur
  • In addition, a 1.39-km road from DN Regalia to K-7 and a 2.20-km elevated corridor from Kalinga Studio Square to SUM Hospital are planned.

Other infrastructure works include:

  • 2.23 km road from Khandagiri to Gandamunda
  • 4.91 km stretch from Laxmisagar via Samantarapur to Kalpana Flyover and Museum Square
  • 2.12 km underpass at AG Square
  • 1.71 km road from Daya Setu to Dhauli Square

Further connectivity projects will cover:

  • 3.38 km road from NH-16 to AIIMS Square via Ghatikia
  • 1.70 km stretch from Patia Square to Infocity
  • 2.10 km road from KIIT to Sikharchandi

Significantly, an underground road from AG Square to the city airport is also in the pipeline, aimed at decongesting traffic and ensuring smoother urban mobility.
