Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: In light of heightened security measures for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming three-day visit to Odisha, all schools within the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area will remain closed after 1 pm today.
This decision, taken by the Mohan Majhi-led BJP government, affects both government and private institutions and is aimed at ensuring the safety of students and the smooth flow of security operations ahead of the PM’s arrival.
PM Modi, set to visit Odisha today, will be making his third visit to the state following the BJP's sweeping victory in the 2024 General Elections. His previous visits included attending the launch of the Subhadra Yojana and the swearing-in ceremony of Odisha's new BJP government under Mohan Majhi.
During this visit, the Prime Minister will be in Bhubaneswar to attend the DG-IG Conference, an event that is expected to bring a significant security presence and cause major traffic disruptions.
In anticipation of these challenges, authorities have rolled out extensive security arrangements across the city, including the deployment of over 70 police platoons and around 300 officers.
Worth mentioning, several areas around key venues have also been designated as "No Drone Zones" to maintain airspace security.
With large-scale traffic congestion anticipated due to the heavy security protocols, the state government has taken the precautionary step of closing schools early to avoid any disruptions for students and staff. Parents and guardians are advised to plan accordingly.
