The redevelopment will feature modern, high-rise structures and improved passenger facilities. One of the key changes will allow passengers to reach the concourse area by car, reducing the need to walk long distances to enter the station.

A new building connected to Platform No. 1 is already operational, with the TTE office functioning from the facility. The RPF office is also expected to shift to the new building within the next two days. The administrative offices will become fully operational from the new building ahead of the Durga Puja rush.

East Coast Railway General Manager Parameswar Funkwal made a surprise visit to the station on Tuesday to review the ongoing redevelopment and passenger amenity projects.

During the inspection, he visited the concourse, platforms and other key areas and reviewed the progress with railway officials and representatives of construction agencies. He stressed completing the work within the stipulated timeline while maintaining quality and safety standards.
