
Bhubaneswar, September 1: In a significant instance of swift justice, Judge Subhanjyan Mohanty, ADJ-4 Special POCSO Court, Bhubaneswar, sentenced a rape convict to seven years of rigorous imprisonment within just 89 days of the crime being reported.
The case involved the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl under Lingaraj police station limits. The incident, which came to light on June 4, led to the immediate arrest of the accused, Pradyumna Mallia, by the Commissionerate Police.
After examining witness testimonies and material evidence, the court found Mallia guilty and awarded him a seven-year rigorous imprisonment term. Additionally, the court directed that a compensation of ₹1 lakh be provided to the survivor.
