Bengal: Over 72% Voter Turnout Recorded Till 3 PM in Repoll at 15 Booths Across Two Assembly Seats

Kolkata, May 2: A voter turnout of over 72% was recorded until 3 pm in the repoll at 15 booths across two assembly constituencies in South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, on Saturday, according to officials.

The repoll took place at 11 booths in the Magrahat Paschim assembly constituency and four in Diamond Harbour. The Election Commission had ordered the repoll a day prior, following reports of electoral malpractices during the initial phase of voting.

The process remained largely peaceful, with no significant disruptions at the polling stations. However, at booth number 179, located at Chanda Primary School in the Diamond Harbour seat, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) alleged harassment of a specially-abled voter and his mother by central forces. This sparked protests from party workers and locals, demanding action over the incident.
