Balangir, Oct 11: In a bid to reduce accidents caused by stray cows on roads and enhance safety for both animals and motorists, the District Police, in collaboration with the Kartavya Foundation and BJP Yuva Morcha, has launched a new initiative attaching reflective belts to stray cows.

The program was inaugurated on Saturday near Babatangeswar Temple on Circuit House Road. These reflective belts are designed to glow at night, making the cows more visible to drivers and helping to prevent collisions.

Members of the BJP Yuva Morcha and Kartavya Foundation actively participated in the effort, tying reflective belts around stray cows at various locations across the district. The initiative was also supported by senior police officials, including the SDPOs of Balangir and Patnagarh, the IIC of Town Police Station, and several other officers.

This step is expected to significantly reduce road accidents involving cattle and improve overall road safety in the region.
