Mumbai, Mar 25: Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul have welcomed a baby girl, as confirmed by the couple in a joint Instagram post on Monday evening. The post, featuring swans, simply read: "Blessed with a baby girl." Rahul had to miss Delhi Capitals' opening match due to the birth of their child, although the couple has yet to reveal her name.
The couple tied the knot in January 2023, and in November 2024, they had shared the news of Athiya's pregnancy. During the ongoing season opener against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the Delhi Capitals team shared what they called the "best mid-match update ever" on social media. Rahul had joined the Delhi Capitals camp just before the opening match in Visakhapatnam but received special permission from the team management to skip the game against his former franchise, LSG, at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
Their post quickly received an outpouring of congratulatory messages. Athiya’s father, Suniel Shetty, shared a heart and an evil eye emoji in the comments. Actor Vikrant Massey wrote, “God bless your family.” Several other celebrities, including Vaani Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari, Parineeti Chopra, Mrunal Thakur, Bhumi Pednekar, and Masaba Gupta, also extended their warm wishes to the couple.
Rahul’s teammate from the national side, Suryakumar Yadav, also extended his congratulations to the couple, leaving a warm message under Rahul’s post. Rahul, who was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore during the 2024 IPL Mega Auctions after leaving Lucknow, is eager to make his mark in the IPL, building on his recent successes in the ODI and Test formats.
