Guwahati, June 10: Cachar police in Assam seized drugs worth over Rs 45 crore and arrested four persons on Monday on charges of drug peddling.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced about the success of the anti-narcotics operations conducted by the state police which took place in Cachar district.

In a post on social media platform X on Monday, CM Sarma praised the Cachar police for their efforts. The police recovered 1.5 lakh Yaba tablets in two back-to-back raids, which were based on strong information. Four people involved in drug trafficking were arrested.

Officials said these arrests would help break down a bigger drug network in the area.

Chief Minister Sarma reiterated that the state government is fully committed to fighting drug abuse and protecting the youth of Assam.

"Assam Police stands firm in protecting our youth," the Chief Minister wrote on social media.

This recent drug bust is part of a series of successful actions by Assam Police in the state’s strong fight against drugs.

CM Sarma said that since the drug trade is a serious danger to young people and public safety, the authorities have increased monitoring and taken stricter action, especially along major routes near the borders of other northeastern states.
