Prayagraj, Jan 12: As the Magh Mela 2026 unfolds in Prayagraj, an Italian traveller, Lucrezia, has shared her admiration for India, describing it as a "magical" country. This marks her third visit to India, having previously visited in 2024 and participated in the 2025 Maha Kumbh.
During her visit, Lucrezia spoke fondly of India’s deep cultural and spiritual heritage. "I travel with my father across the world, but India holds a special place in our hearts forever. It is a very magical place, including the people, the food, the culture, and the Hindu religion," she said, expressing her love for the country.
Reflecting on her past travels, she shared, "I first visited India in 2024, then for the 2025 Maha Kumbh, and now in 2026 for the Magh Mela. After Prayagraj, I plan to visit Varanasi, which is the oldest city in the world."
Lucrezia is currently in India on a 10-day trip and spoke about her spiritual journey, detailing her connection with a spiritual guru who has profoundly impacted her life. "He is teaching me kindness and to let go of things that I no longer need and to accept who I am. He has everything because he has let go of everything. I love how he lives. He is our international baba, and he even calls us when we are in Italy and shows us everything," she added.
The ongoing Magh Mela has drawn saints and seers from various Sanatan traditions, and the atmosphere around the Triveni Sangam is one of celebration and devotion. The 44-day-long religious gathering began on January 3, with a sacred bath on Paush Purnima, and will continue with six major bathing occasions, concluding with the holy bath on Mahashivratri on February 15.
Over 2.2 million devotees took a holy dip at the Sangam on the first day, and the numbers are expected to grow as the mela progresses.
