Bhubaneswar: Indian sprinter Animesh Kujur won silver medal in men’s 200m on the second day of the New Taipei City Athletics Championships 2026 in Taipei on Sunday. Kujur trained at the Reliance Foundation Athletic High-Performance Centre at Bhubaneswar, he clocked 20.47s to finish second. The first place clocked 20.03s by Thailand’s Puripol Boonson and Chinese Taipei's Ge Wuyanming took bronze with a time of 20.65 seconds.
Kujur had a national record timing of 20.32s, today is not the best timing for him, but he achieved his season's best time and enough to breach the qualifying standard for the Commonwealth Games 2026 (20.61s).
Kujur's effort was comfortably inside the Commonwealth Games qualifying mark of 20.61 seconds and stood as his season-best performance. Although he remained short of his national record of 20.32 seconds, set at the Asian Athletics Championships last year, the timing was the fourth fastest of his career.
