New Delhi, June 23: An Air India Express flight bound for Jammu was forced to return to Delhi mid-air on Monday after a technical issue was detected during the journey.
Flight IX2564, operated using an Airbus A320 aircraft, was originally scheduled to depart from Delhi at 10:40 AM and reach Jammu by 12:05 PM. However, it took off slightly later at 11:04 AM and was diverted back to Delhi shortly after, according to data from Flightradar24.
Confirming the incident, a spokesperson for Air India Express stated: "An alternative aircraft was arranged to operate our Delhi-Jammu flight after the original aircraft returned to Delhi due to a technical issue. We regret the inconvenience caused." The airline did not disclose the exact nature of the problem.
The airline promptly deployed a replacement aircraft to ensure passengers reached their destination with minimal delay.
This follows another operational disruption over the weekend when Air India Express flight IX1014, operating from Delhi to Patna on June 21, was diverted to Varanasi due to poor weather.
"Due to adverse weather conditions, one of our flights to Patna was diverted briefly to Varanasi. When the weather improved, the flight resumed and landed in Patna. We regret the delay caused by circumstances beyond our control," the airline spokesperson added.
