Dominican Republic sensation Joheirry Mola secured top honors at this year's global beauty competition held in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Vietnam. She claimed the coveted Miss World 2026 crown, succeeding Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri during a spectacular grand finale. Over 110 women from around the globe competed in the long-standing international event. Created by Eric Morley in 1951, this storied pageant continues to evolve, reflecting shifting modern standards that prioritize humanitarian efforts alongside traditional beauty metrics.
European representative Elisabeth Reynes from Spain earned the first runner-up position, while Malaysian delegate Taanusiya Chetty took home the second runner-up spot. Judges narrowed down a highly competitive pool of 111 contestants into four regional divisions before selecting the final six. This elite group featured Eritrea's Snit Habteab winning the People's Choice category, Spain's Elisabeth Reynes representing Europe, and Malaysia's Taanusiya Chetty earning the Beauty With a Purpose award. Vietnam’s Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc advanced for Asia and Oceania, Joheirry Mola represented the Americas and Caribbean, and Romanda Hombir of South Africa stood for Africa.
Indian Representative Misses Final Cut
Nikita Porwal represented India and successfully reached the Top 40 out of all global participants. She fell short of advancing to the Top 20 round. Following her exit, the Miss India Organisation shared their immense gratitude online. They proudly noted her success in continuing India's remarkable streak of placing at five consecutive editions. They released a touching public statement reading, "Nikita, you carried India with grace, conviction and heart on one of the world's biggest stages. From every moment you gave us to every cheer you brought home, thank you for representing us so beautifully. India is proud of you, always." Organizers welcomed several fresh nations to the 2026 stage. Contestants from Pakistan, Maldives, Eritrea, Mozambique, and French Guiana participated for the first time in history. Conversely, delegates from Ecuador, Armenia, and Togo withdrew before the final event began. Competitors underwent rigorous preliminary challenges and closed-door interviews to advance through the quarter-finals and semi-finals. Looking ahead, pageant officials announced that Tanzania will host the 74th edition of the competition in East Africa.
