London, Oct 17: An Air India Aircraft on Thursday reportedly received a bomb threat in London which later landed safely after interception by a Royal Airforce Fighter Jet.
The bomb threat was received for the Air India plane a few hours after it headed towards London taking off from the Mumbai International Airport today.
On being aware of the Emergency Code alerting bomb threat, issued by the Captain and crew members the Royal Airforce’s RAF Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon fighter aircraft from RAF Coningsby swang into action to investigate the civilian aircraft.
Following an uneventful interception the aircraft was released to continue to its original destination under the direction of civilian air traffic control, said sources.
The airline official said the flight landed safely at London Heathrow airport after the operation.
Worth mentioning, four other Air India flights, viz two Vistara (including an international flight) and two IndiGo flights also received bomb threats on Thursday.
