Bhubaneswar, Sep 10: The Odisha government will soon implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to identify ineligible beneficiaries of various housing schemes, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik informed today.
The initiative aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in monitoring housing projects, particularly under schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
The minister emphasized that strict action will be taken against individuals who have received housing benefits despite already owning pucca houses or having availed similar support through other housing or Antyodaya schemes.
“We have initiated the use of AI to detect discrepancies and ensure only eligible individuals benefit from these schemes. While instances of beneficiaries failing to construct houses after receiving funds are rare, we are keeping a close watch,” Naik stated.
He further informed that officials have been directed to ensure the timely construction of houses and to act promptly in cases where irregularities are uncovered.
