Delhi, June 13: With the concern buzzed by the Air India Flight that crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday, Aviation watchdog the Directorate General of Civil Aviation( DGCA) on Friday ordered enhanced safety inspection of Air India's Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.
The DGCA authorities urged the Air India Authorities to have comprensive inspections of all safety features and protocols of the fleet of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed Air India to carry out additional maintenance actions on its Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 planes that are equipped with Genx engines with immediate effect.
The safety reviews needed to be carried out in coordination with the DGCA regional offices concerned, said an order issued in this connection.
According to the database, there are 26 Boeing 787-8s and 7 Boeing 787-9s in the fleet of Air India owned by the Tata Group so far.
The plane, crashed in Ahmedabad is one of them, that’s suspected to have technical glitches before its take-off.
Worth mentioning, the Air India's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, leaving from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed soon after take-off on Thursday afternoon and claimed at least 265 people.
