Jeypore, June 20: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested Sri Satyanarayan Sethy, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Kotpada Block in Koraput district, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Following extensive searches at properties linked to Sethy, Vigilance officials unearthed substantial movable and immovable assets that he allegedly failed to account for satisfactorily. The assets include two flats, including one held benami, three farms spread across nearly 14 acres with mango and eucalyptus plantations, 49 plots of land of which 17 are reportedly benami, around 940 grams of gold, approximately 2.5 kilograms of silver, cash worth Rs 5.48 lakh, bank deposits exceeding Rs 60.92 lakh, and a benami Tata Harrier SUV.
Based on the findings, Koraput Vigilance Police Station Case No. 11/2026 has been registered against Sethy under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
The accused has been placed under arrest and will be produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
