Bhubaneswar, Feb, 14: The actor-turned-politician Manoj Mishra may be the Congress candidate for the Balangir Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming elections.

It was revealed from the online registration of Mishra as one of the Congress aspirants for the Balangir LS Constituency, on the Congress Website dedicated for congress candidatures.

More significantly, Manoj had joined the Congress party in Bhubaneswar among scores of senior Congress leaders a while ago leaving far off his Ollywood activities.

Manoj has already applied for the party ticket online wherein he has expressed his interest to contest as an MP Candidate from Congress, with the affilation and approval of the PCC.

Responding to the reporters, Manoj says he draws inspiration from Balangir MLA Narsingh Mishra. He expressed hope for success in the elections and shared this information with the media after meeting Narasingh Mishra, the Balangir MLA on Tuesday.

During a function at Khaliapali Panchayat Ranipali in the Balangir block, Manoj highlighted the exceptional support he received from the people of Balangir during his conflict. If the Congress party grants him a ticket, he believes he would receive even more love and support from the constituents in Balangir’s parliamentary constituency.

Notably, last year, Manoj Mishra faced controversy when some Odia cinema producers imposed a ban on him. Balangir Congress MLA Narsingh Mishra played a crucial role in supporting Manoj during that time. Narsingh Mishra even warned that Odisha would be divided if the ban continued against Manoj. Eventually, the ban was lifted. Other leaders from Bolangir district, including the Loisingha MLA, also rallied behind Manoj Mishra who demanded to reconsider and revoke  the ban imposed on the versatile odia cine critic.

Furthermore, Manoj Mishra gained prominence in western odisha by undertaking a rally( yatra) from Nrusinghnath to Sundargarh, focusing on language and cultural issues.
