Balangir, June 12: In a major development in the fake certificate scam aimed at securing rural postal worker jobs in Balangir, the Crime Branch on Thursday produced five accused before the court. The arrested individuals, Kulmani Rana, Ajudin Kumhar, Rajat Nayak, Sudhir Bhue, and Tofan Bag were apprehended from Balangir and Subarnapur districts.

The accused are alleged to have forged certificates from various universities and higher education institutions to fraudulently obtain jobs as rural postal workers. The arrests followed a complaint lodged by Rajendra Pattnayak, District Division Post Office Superintendent, Balangir, in 2023.

This is part of a larger investigation in which 17 individuals, including the prime accused, had been previously arrested. Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues to probe the case.
