Berhampur, May 25: A shocking incident rocked Berhampur after a youth identified as Jaga Sahu was allegedly involved in a brutal sharp-weapon attack in the Ambika Nagar area. The incident, reportedly captured on video, went viral on social media within hours, triggering widespread outrage and panic among residents, officials said on Monday.

Following the attack, police launched a massive manhunt to nab the accused. During the operation, the accused allegedly attempted to flee and reportedly tried to hurl a bomb at the police team.

In response, police opened fire, injuring Jaga Sahu in both legs during the encounter. He was later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition for treatment.

According to police sources, the accused had escaped immediately after the attack on Sunday night. Officials said timely police action helped prevent further escalation of violence in the area.
