Bhubaneswar, August 3: Odisha has recorded 96 snakebite cases in flood-affected areas, with no fatalities reported, the state's Public Health Department said on Monday.

Although floodwaters have receded in most places, health authorities continue to monitor the situation in seven affected districts—Baleshwar, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Puri, and Cuttack. To address post-flood health challenges, the department has set up control rooms and temporary medical camps across the affected regions.

Working in coordination with the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), the Health Department has ensured adequate stocks of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), Anti-Snake Venom (ASV), and other essential medicines to meet emergency medical requirements.

The department also reported 195 cases of diarrhoea, with all patients receiving timely treatment to prevent dehydration and related complications.

According to official data, medical teams have provided healthcare services to 21,334 people in the flood-hit districts. As part of precautionary measures, 481 pregnant women were shifted to safer locations, leading to 332 safe deliveries. Authorities confirmed that no maternal or neonatal deaths have been reported.
