Bhubaneswar, Sept 9: An alarming incident of alleged child abuse has been reported from the Ishaneshwar Basti area under the Chandrasekharpur police station limits in Bhubaneswar.

An eight-year-old boy was allegedly subjected to severe physical abuse by his stepmother for several days. According to reports, the child was allegedly beaten after he failed to study properly, resulting in injuries to his teeth.

The alleged abuse reportedly continued for four days, particularly when the boy’s father was away. On Wednesday, local residents reportedly intervened and rescued the child after learning about the incident.

Chandrasekharpur police reached the spot, rescued the minor and initiated an investigation into the allegations. Further details are awaited.
