Mumbai, May 18: A tragic fire at Central Textile Mills in Solapur’s MIDC area claimed the lives of eight people in the early hours of Sunday, including three women and a child.
The blaze, suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit, erupted around 3:45 am at the factory located on Akkalkot Road, approximately 400 km from Mumbai.
Among the deceased were the factory owner, Haji Usman Hasanbhai Mansuri, and three of his family members, including his one-and-a-half-year-old grandson. Four workers also lost their lives in the incident, including three women.
Firefighters battled the inferno for nearly six hours before bringing it under control. As of now, fire-fighting operations are still underway, according to officials.
