Mumbai, Sept 14: The iconic GSB (Gowd Saraswat Brahman) Mahaganpati at King’s Circle in Mumbai opened for its first public viewing on Saturday ahead of the Ganeshotsav celebrations, drawing a large number of devotees eager to catch a glimpse of the magnificent idol.
Known as one of the country’s wealthiest Ganpati celebrations, the GSB Mahaganpati has once again attracted attention for its extraordinary decorations and security arrangements.
This year, the idol has been covered by a record insurance policy of ₹703.27 crore.
The grand idol is adorned with more than 66 kg of gold, 335 kg of silver and precious gemstones, making the GSB Seva Mandal’s celebration one of the most opulent Ganeshotsav events.
The elaborate gold and silver ornaments, along with the sparkling gemstones, added to the visual grandeur of the Mahaganpati as devotees gathered for the first public darshan.
However, the identity of the GSB Mahaganpati goes beyond its gold, silver and record insurance cover. For devotees, the annual celebration is also deeply rooted in faith, tradition and community participation, making it one of Mumbai’s most prominent Ganeshotsav celebrations.
