Bhubaneswar, September 12: As many as 62,487 cases were settled through compromise at the third National Lok Adalat of the year held across Khordha district, involving claims and dues worth over ₹28.85 crore, officials said on Saturday.
The Lok Adalat was organised by the Khordha District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at judicial courts across the district. Of the 83,061 cases taken up for consideration, 62,487 were disposed of through mutual settlement.
According to the DLSA, a total of ₹28,85,10,978was settled through compromise in cases relating to revenue matters, criminal disputes, bank loans and other claims.
The proceedings were conducted under the direct supervision of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of Khordha DLSA Biranchi Narayan Mohanty.
At the court of the JMFC-cum-Civil Judge (Junior Division), Jatani, 25 cases were settled, an official said.
Debendra Nath Bagh, Judge, JMFC-cum-Civil Judge (Junior Division), Jatani, thanked officers, advocates, and representatives of banks, insurance companies, telephone companies and revenue departments for their cooperation in ensuring the successful conduct of the Lok Adalat.
He urged all stakeholders to begin preparations well in advance for the fourth National Lok Adalat, scheduled to be held on December 12, 2026.
Bagh also appealed to the public to make greater use of the Lok Adalat mechanism for the speedy and amicable resolution of disputes.
